Wild Brew takes on the Flea Market

Spring is almost here, and the sun is shining in Rochester, NY! With Spring comes the hopes for nice weather and to spend as much time as possible outside. This week the Avon Flea Market officially announced their opening date for the season. It may not be exciting to you, but Lynn and I are eager to see how Wild Brew does at the flea market.

If you have never been to a flea market before, let me paint a picture for you. It's a beautiful, sunny Sunday morning, and as 7 am approaches, cars begin to line up at the flea market. These vendors are there bright and early to get a "prime" spot at the market. They don't realize that a loyal flea market shopper will spend all day there and make their way to every booth. So, it doesn't always matter where you park. The die-hards will find you. And that is what I am there for.

I am there for the crotchety old lady who is just looking for a bargain and does not care how expensive my ingredients are because of supply demands. I am there for the old man who smells like cigarettes and motor oil and has been collecting old junk all winter to sell at the market. I am there for the mid 60's hippy lady that is selling crystals and Nag Champa incense.

I am there for the early morning, greasy breakfast sandwich that was prepped on a dirty grill from the Sunday before. The smell of food and junk in the air brings me so much joy in the Spring. It reminds me of my childhood with Grandma Dufus. Garage sales, jamborees, cigarettes, and motor oil are the memories of my youth with her.

A flea market is a great place for people watching and networking. Lynn and I will be at the Avon Flea Market twice a month starting May 1st. It runs every Sunday from 7 am-3 pm. We are hoping to fit right in and thrive on the Sunday morning crowd. Think about coming to visit us and support other local businesses as well!
