We are officially in the second half of January. The first month of our new resolutions and goals we have set for ourselves. This can be a good time to check in with yourself and gauge how you are doing on those new goals for yourself. Don't be so hard on yourself when you do this. Every day is a new day to work on yourself.
Working in skincare for over 15 years, getting someone to stick to a skincare regimen is just like getting someone to their new year's resolutions. A skincare routine is just like exercising, but for your face. And after teaching for 13 of those years, I know how to coach someone through it.
When reflecting on these resolutions, I will start by telling you to take them one step at a time. Break these goals down into manageable, bite-sized pieces. No matter what your goals are, make sure they are achievable. Don't set yourself up for failure by setting lofty expectations.
You can have big goals, but break down how you can achieve them, one step at a time. For instance, a great goal everyone should start with is water intake. Water is the key to life right? You can't survive without water, so everyone should strive to hydrate. It is excellent for your skin, hair, and body. Start by taking your body weight and dividing it by 2. This number is how many ounces you should consume a day. If you drink coffee, you will need to add 1-2 glasses of water to your total number.
If you focus on this one goal until it becomes second nature, then you can add your next step in. By managing these small sections one at a time, you will be more likely to reach the result. You can't expect to change every you have accumulated over your lifetime all at once. If you do, chances are you will be unsuccessful at reaching your goals.
